One of my favorite “non sewing” projects has always been the no sew fleece blanket, that is until I found out about making no sew bandana pillows. I was amazed at the variety of bandanas available. They come in a wide range of colors, patterns and sizes. This project is just as easy as the no sew blanket, in fact, a little easier since it is on a smaller scale which makes it a little more managable.

Here’s what you are going to need.

2 coordinating bandanas
1 Pillow Form (or an old pillow)
Scissors

Step 1. Go to your local fabric store and find two pieces bandanas that coordinate with one another as well as your home’s decor. Make sure the bandanas you choose will fit around your pillow form leaving at least a couple inches around all the edges.

Step 2. Lay your bandanas out and cut 1 inch wide strips 2 inches long all the way around the bandanas.

Step 3. Lay your first bandana on a table or the floor with the “good side” facing down.

Step 4. Place your pillow form on top of the first bandana.

Step 5. Place the second bandana on top of the pillow form, with the “good side” facing up.

Step 6. Line up the strips of both bandanas and then simply tie them together.

Once you are finished tying your strips together you are done. The strips will fray nicely, if you would like to speed the fraying process you can snip the ends of the strips.

The possibilities are really quite endless. You are limited only by your imagination and creativity. Once you get the hang of making no sew pillows out of bandanas you can start using any fabric or material that strikes your fancy. The choices of fabric at your local fabric store are almost limitless. As easy as this project is it would be a great activity for a birthday party, or even just to spend some quality time with your children. They will enjoy making something creative, and with no needles or sewing machine, it’s a great project to get them started on.
